Fence Show at The Arts Center of the Capital Region

Friday night was the opening of the annual Fence Show at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy. My painting, Overpass, was not only chosen to be in the juried upcoming Fence Select show, but also took Runner Up for Best in Show! Out of so many talented artists featured, I'm flattered to have my work chosen. The award-winning painting is still for sale here along with many others.

Busy Busy Busy times here!

Spring cleaning swept through the site and everything from 2014 - 2011 has had its price chopped; if you're in New York state and interested, shipping could be free as I plan to do a good bit of travel this summer. Message me if you see something you like!

New work is now up here.

Lastly, I am ecstatic to have accepted an offer this morning - come September I will be a part time art teacher at an amazing local district. The school year hasn't ended and I can't wait for the next to start!

Friday was the reception for the Graduate Show and it was surreal to see a whole wall of a gallery filled with the pieces I've worked hard on the past few years. It feels so strange to think it's over! Today I turned in my thesis paper, and now all that's left is to clear out of my studio... and to find a space to work in the upcoming months...

This Friday, May 1st, is the Graduate Show at the Esther Massry Gallery. The reception is from 5 pm to 7 pm and you should come! Three other graduates and myself will be featured.

Etching underway

I've started etching my next plate - a monster of an 18" x 24" piece of zinc. Line etch today, aquatint tomorrow, and pulling prints very soon!

Process

Sometimes the process of making a work fascinates me as much as the end product. The image above is a photograph of the large glass window I use to prepare my linen for a printing surface. You can see the grid-like imprint left by the threads of the fabric as they're soaked with gesso and adhered to the glass, then pulled away. I've made a piece using this imprinted byproduct, Remnants (left), and am working on a few more small plexiglas pieces that use this base.

Lots happening in the studio - I am currently working on about ten things and am not ready to consider any finished, but here is a taste of one that's nearly there! I'm excited to upload images of a few in the next week or so. Stay tuned for new hybrid works that feature painting, etchings, screen printing, and sculptural elements.
