Graduate Research Grant - Success!

A few months ago I applied for a Graduate Research Grant through The College of Saint Rose. My proposal, Intersections between Painting and Printmaking: An Investigation of Disjointed Spaces, detailed my plans for a body of work that I'd recently started. The process of writing the proposal was a great challenge to concisely explain my work and the type of media and visual vocabulary that I wanted to focus on.
I got the grant! These upcoming few weeks I'll be making more works that dabble across disciplinary lines and merge abstraction with representation in these spaces. I'll be submitting this new work to shows and galleries, as well as selecting the best works for the Graduate Thesis Exhibition in May - lots to look forward to!

It has been a whirlwind semester and I'm excited to share what I've been working on! Images will be coming soon but for now here is the statement I've crafted to parallel this most recent body of work.

Fabricated spaces reference a contemporary urban environment. The complex nature of evolving construction is mirrored in the layering processes of painting and printmaking. In some works, I explore or bury the content of a formerly etched plate that was not mine, and in the process reshape the imagery of the plate. By combining these printmaking methods with painting processes, I make a hybrid object.

And fine, I suppose I can let you see a tiny bit of a new work...
